Work-based learning (WBL) describes learning in the community focused on job training and vocational skills.
Our employment skills programming is designed to help students discover their professional strengths, learn workplace etiquette, and secure meaningful employment. We bridge the gap between school and competitive independent employment by meetings students exactly where they are on their career journey.
The journey begins in High School with our STEPS programming, continues at Focus Beyond, and ends as integrated community members.
- Vocational Seminars and Courses
- In our on-campus courses, students practice filling out job applications, building accessible resumes, practice interview skills, and learning how to advocate for workplace accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- 30 + Community-based work sites
- Lighthouse Coffee Cart is located at the 360 Colborne Building. Come grab a coffee and see our students in action!
- Coaching and support for independent workers
- Job Coaches that work with students as they work towards their individual employment goals.
