Focus Beyond Referral Process

The Focus Beyond Referrals are continuous throughout the school year. Completing the form linked below will initiate communication from a Focus Beyond Team member, who will share more information about our program and next steps for enrollment.

We ask the referral be completed by April 3, 2026. Student IEPs can occur after the referral date and need to be completed May 29th, 2026.

Your first step is to complete the Focus Beyond Referral Link.

Students transferring from outside of SPPS or area Charter Schools:

• Completing the Focus Beyond Referral Link
• Complete the SPPS enrollment application at SPPS Placement Center prior to May 31st.

Why Invite Us to Your Senior Meetings?

>>> We can support determining eligibility by starting a collaborative relationship with the student, family, and IEP team.

>>> To ensure students and families have accurate information about programming and support options

 >>> To support transition IEPs that meet student needs based and align with our program model   

>>> We can provide information about relevant transition and community resources 

Eligibility and Enrollment Criteria

The student:  

>   has an educational disability with transition-related IEP goals  

>   has documented unmet transition needs in the IEP and ESR  

>   has needs that cannot be met by an outside agency or other supports  

>   has not accepted a diploma (can walk in graduation)    

>   has completed 12th grade  Students will graduate based on meeting transition IEP goals and following an individual graduation plan.  

Scheduling for all students is individualized and may be from 1-5 days per week, depending on needs.  Students who are short credits can be referred, but we are not a credit recovery program.

Referral and Enrollment Dates

Referral form completion: no later than April 3, 2026

Final enrollment decisions: May 29th, 2026. IEP/Evals completed indicating transition service updates and programming.

IEPs/Evaluations due before Nov. 1, 2026 must be completed by the sending school.
