Our Assistant Principal

Andrea Thiner

A little about me, I am a seasoned professional with more than 25 years of education experience. I am well versed in educational administration, teaching, youth development, community involvement, program development, coordination and management. I am an advocate for students and working to provide opportunities for students to engage in hands-on learning especially through Career and Technical Education. As an Assistant Principal in Moorhead, I was responsible for the development, management and opening of the Moorhead High School Career Academy. In North Branch as the only Assistant Principal, I focused on students' needs for wide ranges of students.  Prior to being an Assistant Principal, I taught engineering and computer applications as a Career and Technology Education instructor in West Fargo Schools and acted as a science curriculum specialist in Fargo Schools while also teaching biology classes.  I focus on being an innovative thinking self-starter and perpetual learner recognized as an outstanding and inspiring school practitioner and teacher of all ages and ability levels. I work to transcend cultural differences, curriculum, district and organizational challenges. As a leader I am a very motivated team player with diverse experience in relationship building, 21st Century skills need, assessment analysis, and Project Based Learning (PBL). 

I currently hold an Educational Specialist from North Dakota State University, a Master’s of Arts in Education from the University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. I am excited to be starting a Doctoral program at St. Thomas this summer.

My husband, Jason, and I are parents to four adult children that we are lucky to love spending time with. We also have a house full of furry friends too. Lily (9 yrs old) the yellow Lab, Luna (1 yrs old) the black Great Dane, Bella (8 yrs old) the tabby cat and Ginny (3 yrs old) the orange kitty make the world crazy, exciting and full of love. In addition to spending time with our kids (and families), my husband and I both play a lot of tennis.
